Is There Still A Drought In Virginia?
A few days ago, a friend told me to completely turn off the fountain to my house outside. I looked at him and I said, “Why?”
After asking him, I glanced at the once green grass; it looked like brown straw.
Although it’s news to me, is Virgina in a drought?
Local governments in Virginia have issued a drought watches and public water restrictions.
They’re precautionary moves heading into what are, historically, the driest months of they year.
But should we be worried?
Robert Royall, owner of Royall Pump and Well Company – a water well plumbing company, says, “There is concern if the drought continues, but right now we’re not seeing any negative effects on the water table at this point.”
But people still seem to be worried. Especially those with water wells near their homes. They look at their grass and can only imagine what is going on 300ft underneath the ground
Royall says that he gets calls from customers who say it “looks” like the ground is dry, but many feet below the surface, he says, it’s not.
Whatever the case might be, it’s not time to be wasteful.
Use your water wisely – no need to limit your household needs, but don’t waste water.
Royall continues to say that it would take years, especially for those with deep wells, to have any chance of running out of water.
So I quickly turn off my fountain and give cheers my friend with a glass of water.
My cousin recommended this blog and she was totally right keep up the fantastic work!
